In today’s post, I’ll be sharing with you how to niche according to your Human Design type. What most business coaches refer to as “your niche”, I call “your audience”, because as I explained in the previous post,
Your niche does not define you, it defines your product or service.
Your audience is the people that are interested in your message and offers. So, how do you know how broad or narrow your audience/“niche” should be, according to Human Design?
In order to truly find what's right for you, I recommend following your Strategy & Authority. Each Human Design chart is unique, and there are numerous influences and indicators in your chart that point you to your optimal niche. If you really want to discover what’s correct specifically for you, I recommend getting a Human Design reading from a qualified professional. But if you want to just get started, here are some general recommendations that you can use in the meantime.

To get started, there are a couple influences in your chart that can help you identify your niche.
Niching Influences in Your Human Design Chart
- Your Type, which we’ll talk about below, and
- Your Defined or Undefined Energy centers, which you can read more about in this blog post
Your Human Design type determines whether or not you’re meant to have a broad niche or a narrow niche (or an audience, as I like to call it). But please note: if you’re already comfortable with choosing your niche, then feel free to disregard this advice. It’s merely meant to guide those who are having difficulties niching down. Again, take what resonates with you!
With a narrow niche, you’re very specific in who you work with, how you help them and what transformation you help them achieve. Some examples of a narrow niche are “working moms who want to lose 10+kg using keto diet”, or “online entrepreneurs who want to scale their business from 6 to 7 figures using affiliate marketing”.
With a broad niche, you’re much less specific about who you work with, and how you help them achieve transformation. This allows you to discuss a variety of different subjects or topics related to your broad niche. A broad niche for example could be “online entrepreneurs”, or “busy moms”, or “tarot readers”.
How to Niche According to Your Human Design Type
A Manifestor is designed to initiate new things and to create an impact. While many Manifestors have a very singular focus, your energy as a Manifestor is expansive and you are designed to follow your urges. You have lots of ideas and inspiration to act on. It’s best for a Manifestor to have a broad niche, that allows you to have space for creativity and the option to shift from one topic to another, as their energy fluctuate.
Remember, as a Manifestor you’re not meant to follow through and complete everything you start. A Manifestor is here to start the fire, get the ball rolling, and then to find someone else to finish the project. Learning to delegate and to enlist other people to help you with making your ideas happen is one of the best things you can do for yourself. How do you do that? - By informing!
So, if you are a Manifestor and you feel comfortable with a narrow niche - pat yourself on a back. However, if you feel that niching down makes you feel constricted and uncomfortable - broaden your niche!

Generators are meant to master their craft and become an expert in their field, which takes time and patience! Most likely you’ll start with a fairly broad niche and then niche down with time as your mastery evolves. A narrow niche also works well for you because you need the space to hone your skill and get good at something specific.
Remember, this takes time!
You’re building your niche in response to demand, what you see and observe in the external world, and by responding to the signs that you see from the universe.
You like teaching people your own process of doing things. This might be a journaling practice that’s brought you benefits and you want to share it with others, or a specific fitness plan that has allowed you to lose weight postpartum and stay healthy and energized. Teaching people in areas where you developed mastery and your own way of doing that is definitely a good option for you and your energy type!

Manifesting Generators are similar to Generators, but you also have some Manifestor’s elements in your chart. Similar to a Generator, you will likely start from a fairly broad niche, but unless other elements in your chart indicate that you are very single-focused, your niche will remain fairly broad. Or you will narrow it down and change it often.
It’s healthy for you to keep your niche broad, because it gives you space for creativity, exploration and growth. Your niche needs to be broad enough for you to feel creatively free and allows you to cover all the different interests that you’re currently excited about! And since you have multiple passions, you’ll most likely get bored with a narrow niche.
It’s also important that your niche reflects your interests, and it’s correct for you if that niche evolves over time. You have to allow yourself to evolve & allow your niche to evolve with you. You’ll be diving into different niches & topics, and the correct way for you to do this is to align your offers (your products & services) to your interests. And please note: these offerings don’t need to all be released at the same time. It’s perfectly correct for you to have seasons in your work & focus on one passion at a time.
Key takeaway: If you’re a Manifesting Generator, choose a broad niche that aligns with your passions and makes you feel excited.
If you’re a Projector, it’s very important for you to be mindful of your energy to avoid spreading yourself too thin. Similar to a Generator, it’s better for you to serve a narrow niche. You have specific gifts & talents that you need to explore because you’re most likely not aware of these talents yet! Your specific skill set and your Zone of Genius makes narrowing down your niche to these areas ideal.
The reason for narrowing down is a bit different from Generators. Generators work to improve their skill set. As a Projector, if you disperse yourself too much, you’re not going to have enough energy to manage such a broad niche. Narrowing down is more of an energy strategy to conserve your strength because you don’t have consistent access to your Sacral energy and you can easily burn out if you take on too much.
Key takeaway: If you’re a Projector, choose a narrow niche that honors your specific gift, and to conserve your energy.
A Reflector is truly unique, and your way of approaching business is largely determined by your specific profile and activated gates. Generally speaking, going narrow in your niche is better for the same reasons as for a Projector. You need to calibrate your energy and use it efficiently not to end up burning out. However, make sure you don’t go too narrow so you don’t feel trapped.
Reflectors tend to be really good at connecting with people and seeing the big picture, so your niche can be narrow in terms of the topic, but the number of people you’re reaching and helping could be very broad. You are also amazing at connecting the dots that don’t seem to be “connected”, so very often you end up creating your own “new” niche, instead of fitting into something that already exists.
Key Takeaway: If you’re a Reflector, choose a more narrow niche that helps you manage your energy & a topic that honors your ability to connect ideas others can’t.
